Messages Your Inner Heroine Needs To Hear: A Year in Podcast Reflections 2025

the heroine's journey Dec 15, 2025

Here We Are At The End Of Another Year

I have a little gift to tuck under the metaphorical tree for you. This post is my way of saying thank you for stopping by, reading along, and walking this heroine’s path with me.

I am endlessly grateful that you make time for these blogs and for the conversations we have over on the podcast. I never take your attention for granted. I hope that as you read, you will find at least one sentence that makes you sit up a little straighter and think, “Yes, that is exactly what I needed right now.”

Parting Advice

One of the absolute joys of weHeroines is talking with the incredible guests who somehow find their way to my (virtual) doorstep. I still suspect there is a benevolent spirit involved, nudging us together, because every season turns into a goldmine of wise, funny, heartbreakingly honest people. This year was no exception.

If you have listened in, you know I always end our conversations with my “grand finale” question. I ask each guest to gather up everything they have shared and answer:

“If you had to boil down all that you shared to one thing, one thing you wanted to be sure our listeners remembered, what would you say?”

Our 2025 Podcasts

It is not an easy question, but they meet it with such grace, humor, and clarity. What follows are those closing messages, gathered here in one place for you. Enjoy them. Revisit them. Let them be little taps on the shoulder from your inner heroine, reminding you that you are already on your way.

Episode 1: Interview with Kim Lloyd

“Know your values. What pops into my mind is to follow your curiosity.”

Episode 2: Interview with Kat G. Taylor

“Don't give up. It can be really hard, really frustrating. Just take a break and get back to it. And talk to your supportive friends. I don't talk to my people, who I know are not supportive in this way. I talk to the people I know who love what I do, who help me, encourage me, and help to keep me going that way.”

Episode 3: Interview with Lael Couper Jepson

“Listen to the stories you tell yourself about yourself and question them, flip them on their head, and start with -- change takes time…so question your stories. Question what you tell yourself. And gather evidence.”

Episode 4: Interview with Dr. Carol S. Pearson

“That everyone's got something inside of them that can deal with whatever happens. And that is in their personal and collective lives. Whatever they call it, it's great to give it a name -- when you feel an urge to say 'I should' or 'I can'. I know I can. And you know, it doesn't have to be the 12 archetypes. It doesn't have to be anything other than that feeling to really change a life.”

Episode 5: Interview with Alexsondra Tomasulo

“Remember how much you are loved. How much you matter. Whatever you go through, go through it 150%. Acknowledge it. Release it. Yesterday's gone. You're magnificent. There's no other miracle like you.”

Episode 6: Interview with Sara Wells

“I would tell them, there is a treasure inside of you that is truly special. There are talents that all of us have, and it's really important to embrace them and listen to that part of yourself that's speaking to you. I had a gut feeling that something was off, and instead of ignoring it or pushing it down, I went through it. And I am living a life that I really, truly feel proud of, versus what everyone had told me I needed to do. And I think that's really important for us. Just make sure you listen to that beautiful voice inside of you. It's going to take you to amazing places.”

Episode 7: Interview with Christine Richards

“We have to take a step forward. Not always to say, take the next step or the right step, but to take a step forward. Because I think that's where we find the answers that we're looking for. At least for me, that is. Once I start, I often don't end up where I think I was going. But at least I know that if I don't sit at my desk and instead step outside, it's going to make a difference. So I would say take a step forward.

Episode 8: Interview with Creighton Taylor

“Don't give up hope. Life can be good.”

Episode 9: Interview with Ellen Webster

“It's very simple to me, is that every connection we make, no matter how small, no matter how small, is sending out a ripple into the world. And we cannot have these connections in the world without connecting to ourselves first.”

Episode 10: Interview with Leslie Parker

“Number one, don't pee just in case. That, according to me, sets off the whole process, based on what I've learned over the years. The second one, drink your fluids.”

Episode 11: Interview with Holly Reid

“I would say the one thing that would be the advice that you have in your book, You Are a Heroine, is really important. Don't discount the importance of being intentional, saying it out loud, and putting it out into the universe: your calling. Because that's what I did that day in 2002 with that prayer, that was an out loud prayer in my car, talking to God. And somehow when you do that, the mystery makes it happen.”
